Orange Beach’s Daigle Wilson commits to Auburn softball

Orange Beach’s Daigle Wilson announced her commitment on Monday to Auburn softball.

The junior has helped the Makos to three straight state championships, Class 2A titles in 2021 and 2022 and Class 4A in 2023.

As a sophomore, Daigle led Orange Beach in runs (79), hits (72) and stolen bases (65) while batting .434 with a 1.193 OPS.

“She’s probably one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever had,” said Orange Beach coach Shane Alexander. “Her work ethic is unbelievable. Obviously, she’s got talent, but she is a worker, a grinder. I’m so very, very happy for her, but she has worked to get where she’s at.”

Wilson started for the Makos as an eighth-grader and has played shortstop throughout. The speedy infielder has a career batting average of .442 with 13 home runs and 152 stolen bases in 157 attempts.

“She’s got tremendous speed and she’s a threat anytime she gets on,” Alexander said. “She hits well, hits for average, hits for power. You always talk about in baseball a five-tool player. She’s that five-tool player.

“She’s very good defensively. She’s a tremendous teammate, I mean, she’s a coach’s dream. They’re getting a good one.”
